Category Archives: Dijon Days

Picking up souvenirs of friends, food and travel from my Junior Term Abroad semester in France. This is making up for all the entries I was too busy/lazy to write while I was enjoying every minute of my life there.

Dijon Day 1

First breakfast

First breakfast

I’ll start with my official first, full day in Europe.

It’s September 2, and I wake up in the cozy room number 98 of Foyer des Jeunes et Travailleuses in 31 Boulevard de la Tremouille, 21000 Dijon, France. It’s still early, and the sun is only starting to peek through the lacy window curtains. I open the window to see the garden one floor down, and it’s my first time to see autumn in a four-season country! I might’ve looked like I was taking in all the lovely browns and the statue of Mary gracing the corner of le jardin, but inside I was screaming OMFG I’m going to wake up every day of the next four months in friggin’ FRANCE!!! Awesome!!!

JTA in Dijon, France: more than mustard

Coming back from our Junior Term Abroad, Clara, Crystal, Rhocelle, Denise and I had to prepare a 7-minute presentation of our host city, Dijon, for the next batch of JTAers. How the heck were we supposed to cram 4 months’ worth of the best time of our lives into 420 seconds? Yes, it was impossible, but I guess we convinced them incoming juniors anyway! Well at least according to what I heard, the first ranker chose Dijon, and the ten slots (doublde from 5 in our batch), were filled up pretty fast!

More than great mustard

I’m  very excited for our Dijonnais-to-be, so excited that I hunted down that .ppt file and started working on it again, this time to add more hopefully helpful stuff that I wish I could ask someone before my own JTA. So far, this here is version 2.0, and I definitely look forward to more insight that we can add over the years. Now, our little file here is still only a few pages and pictures–the whole experience is much much much more overwhelming than all the graphic animations I used (yes, that’s why it’s taking so long to download. Haha I kid.) I’m working on a section of this blog-under-construction, which will be all about Dijon, croissants, ESC, bonjours, cooking, travelling and of course, studying in France. So for now, voila, our awesome little guide to life in the land of mustard.
